This whole thing was shot in one take. Pretty sweet huh?

Emerge College Ministryhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16579549134498673308noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-435788719567757890.post-13378698861761710132007-09-19T16:10:00.000-05:002007-09-19T16:25:31.305-05:00One Can Only DreamWell, I have to admit that when I first heard about the battle, I was excited. See, every since he came out, my silent prayer has been that 50 cent would retire. Seriously, do we need another rapper who can't seem to talk about anything other than how much money they have, what kinds of cars they drive, or which "shawties" they hook up with? I don't care that he's been shot 9 times. In fact, that just makes him seem really stupid to me. Another gangster who financed his music career by selling drugs. Listen to this part of his bio:
Born in South Jamaica, Queens in New York, 50 Cent began drug dealing at the age of twelve during the 1980s' crack epidemic.[3] After leaving drug dealing to pursue a rap career, he was shot nine times in 2000.
Right. There is someone we should admire. A thug who found it more profitable to make music than sell drugs. I can't stand the guy or anything he represents. I can't say that I am in love with Kanye West either, but at least he tends to veer away from the street thug image so many of these guys embrace. In fact, Kanye seems more like a whining school girl. Still, when i heard that he won, I and a grateful nation rejoiced. Maybe our long hoped for dream would be realized. Maybe 50 would retire. Sadly, I don't think so. Still, a guy can dream can't he?

Emerge College Ministryhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16579549134498673308noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-435788719567757890.post-61399523476762969452007-09-13T13:48:00.000-05:002007-09-13T14:20:41.318-05:00Did She Just Say...You know, sometimes you're watching a live tv event and suddenly someone says something that you have alot of trouble believing. It's amazing how stupid and insensitive people can often be, and the recent past has given us many examples of this. How about Don Imus and his ridiculously calloused and uninformed comments about the Rutgers womens basketball team. Or the infamous tirade from Michael Richards. Big Brother's British version even even kicked off a contestant for using racially offensive language. I don't even have to mention Mel Gibson and countless others whose mouths have gotten them in a lot of trouble. In light of these things, why are people laughing so hard at the hateful language kathy griffin, used in her acceptance speech for a creative arts emmy the other day? I have a feeling that these same people insisting that griffin's words were a joke, weren't laughing at Don Imus. This discussion on cnn conveys some of the thoughts that ran through my head pretty well (although the language griffin used was anti-Jesus, not just anti-Catholic). I have a real hard time understanding the double standard.

Emerge College Ministryhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16579549134498673308noreply@blogger.com0
